Exposing the Quebec-Israel Economic Accord

Organization:

Tadamon

Tadamon! (Arabic for “solidarity”), is a Montreal-based collective which works in solidarity with struggles for self-determination, equality and justice in the ‘Middle East’ and in diaspora communities in Montreal and beyond.

Project description:

The Quebec-Israel Economic Accord was signed in 1997, and in the fall of 2008, the Quebec government participated in an official delegation to Israel and signed another agreement with Israeli government representatives to expand the existing one. The latest agreement was signed by Raymond Bachand, the Quebec Minister of Economic Development, and representatives of the Israeli governement. The agreement was signed with little public or media scrutiny.

Tadamon is requesting research on the Quebec-Israel bilateral accord, specifically looking at the following points of interest:

-Lobbying and pressure in the lead-up to the agreement

-Quebec and Israeli government statements on the agreement

-Companies and government institutions benefiting from the agreement

-Partnerships which have been built from this agreement

Final product:

The final product will be a pamphlet or user-friendly document that Tadamon will use for popular education in the context of their campaign of Boycotts, Divestments, and Sanctions (BDS) against Israeli apartheid
